Bethany’s Barn of Chapel Hill Wedding Invitations

One of my favorite services that I offer is custom venue illustration! I get to illustrate such beautiful venues and create something amazing for my clients. However, sometimes a custom venue illustration or full custom suite is out of the budget. So, I’ve created a pre-designed line of invitations called The Venue Collection which is full of already painted wedding venues that are ready to go! The Barn of Chapel Hill, in particular, is always a joy to illustrate and add to wedding invitations. But when you get to dress it up with flowing bougainvillea, it’s an extra treat!

Bethany reached out in February for her June wedding, which gave us a great timeline to work with. She wanted to customize the Floral Crest Suite from the Venue Collection. Today, I want to show you a way to dress up the Floral Crest Suite to make it your own with your wedding venue and wedding flowers!

Wild Floral Farm pulled together an incredible vision board for their Chapel Hill wedding’s floral design. It was full of cascading bougainvillea, pink roses, and greenery. They made it easy to dream up a beautiful crest inspired by their gorgeous flowers!

My favorite part of customizing The Floral Crest Suite is getting to utilize all the beautiful floral elements that a couple has in mind for their big day. There are numerous ways to include your wedding flowers in your wedding paper designs. The Floral Crest Suite makes it easy to pull those elements in a cohesive way.

The Flowers

After taking the time to make sure I understood Bethany’s vision, of course, I got to work hand painting bougainvillea as the adorning focal element for the crest along with plenty of greenery for a fun accent. Then, we placed The Barn of Chapel Hill right in the middle of the crest topping their marriage monogram! I just love how wonderfully the flowing greenery, dusty pink and sandy roses, and bougainvillea mirrors the flowing floral elements in her wedding day earrings.

The Colors

In addition, Bethany chose a sand-colored font to ground the design, which paired beautifully with the blush envelope (a standard, included color in the Venue Collection invitation line!) and supported the pops of pink created by the bougainvillea. The neutral hue was perfect for tying back to her groom’s neutral tan bowtie. It even matched the gorgeous natural wood that echoes throughout The Barn of Chapel Hill. Pulling out these little pieces of the day and incorporating them into your invitation and stationery design is key to creating a cohesive, put-together suite!

The Next-Level Details

Inside the envelope, their monogram popped again in a simpler way, with just their initials inside of the crest outline. Instead, the bougainvillea pours in from the edges of the envelope. The floral elements really show up throughout the day, especially in the Bridal Party’s gowns!

And where would we be if we didn’t add a little extra “pop” for the flat-lay, day-of detail shots? The photos her amazing photographer Bow Tie Photo took included the back of her invitation with an oversized, full crest. The floral elements repeat on the back of the RSVP and Details card too! Having extra invitations on hand the day of means your photographer can show both the front and the back. This means you can highlight all those extra details and personalize your getting-ready photos!

Finally, a full vignette version of the Barn of Chapel Hill illustration covers the bottom of the Details insert card. This gave guests a look into the venue’s beautiful grounds. Surrounded by Carolina Pines and beautiful greenery and landscaping, the Barn of Chapel Hill truly shines!

Any wedding venue can be dressed up with customized flowers from your wedding day, based on your vision, aesthetic, and dreams, through the Floral Crest Suite from the Venue Collection. You’ll be able to get a custom stationery experience, without the custom price tag. I’d love to work with you for your wedding invitations and day-of goods too!
