When Emily and Colin reached out to me about a coastal live wedding painting, it was an enthusiastic YES! I was thrilled to be part of their big day at The Beaufort Hotel in Beaufort, NC. The property was absolutely gorgeous and I could not have imagined a more beautiful September day for a coastal wedding.
Combining Elements for the Perfect Coastal Live Painting
When asking them what they were looking for in their painting, they had a simple but meaningful vision. They wanted to be pictured standing on the docks below the hotel, in the sunset, holding hands. In order to make this special moment happen, I needed to piece together a few elements for the final product. I began by capturing their vow exchange by photo and then scouted the area to find the best “components” for a perfect picture background. This venue had so many beautiful spots to have a portrait done (and really, most wedding venues have this same “problem”) making it hard to choose just one.
So, this gives me the chance to find a way to incorporate multiple elements into one painting that might not otherwise be able to be combined. This is where my creative side gets to shine! Instead of the docks with boats and equipement in the background, I decided to “flip” the scene. Now I oriented the scene out toward the Rachel Carson Island Reserves so they populated the background. Additionally, l thought it would be charming to include a little peek of the chapel at Beaufort Hotel where they said “I Do”. If you look closely, you’ll be able to notice it on the lefthand side of the portrait, small and subtle, but oh so special. I know I may be biased, but I LOVE how Emily and Colin’s coastal live wedding painting turned out!
