Today I’m sharing a fairytale wedding that I recently had the honor of live painting. Jeri Lynn and Wiliam’s romantic wedding at the Bird Song Chapel at Cornealius Properties in Goldsboro, NC was a dream. The wisteria peeked through the trees as a horse-drawn carriage brought Jeri Lynn to the ceremony site. She approached the chapel where she’d walk down the beautiful white-satin aisle, scattered with flowers to her beau, William. To say it was something out of a storybook wouldn’t do it justice! Take a look at the live painting I created on-site based on their sweet moments.
Setting the Scene: A Red and Pink Hued Floral Vision
With red and pink roses against the white backdrop, I knew the palette for this painting would really pop! The fresh spring colors looked incredible against the chapel arches. The newly sprung bright greens of spring sparkled behind the beautiful chapel and brought in a gorgeous light. It was clear the splendor of this place was going to transfer beautifully to canvas!
Where A Live Painter Sets Up
I was able to get a little head start on the painting by arriving before the ceremony began. By doing this, I was able to paint the background of the ceremony scene. Once the ceremony began, I stood in the back of the chapel in adoration. I quietly snapped many pictures to work from as a reference throughout the night. The cocktail hour was right outside of the reception area, which was a great place to begin painting for the night. I was able to set up my easel there so as guests left the beautiful ceremony, they could see the painting begin to come to life. This is when I began to place Jeri Lynn and William in the center of it all. At the conclusion of cocktail hour, I moved into the reception space to paint while the guests dined and danced the night away!
The Finished Piece at Cornealius Properties
Jeri Lynn and William chose a 22×30 acrylic couple’s portrait for their keepsake. Although it was mostly complete before the reception ended, I do tend to make a judgment call at the end of the night to say whether the piece is finished or if it needs to come back to the studio for additional finishing touches. While it was essentially complete, I knew a few extra shadows and highlights would really make it pop. After a few days in the studio, I was able to finalize the piece and proceeded to share the images with Jeri Lynn and William for review. Afterward, thanks to my additional experience in the stationery world, I was able to craft special Thank You notes from their Cornealius Properties wedding they could send out with the painting on them for their guests to receive and enjoy as well. This is such a lovely touch to wrap up your wedding details and give your guests one last impression.
